When I am not teaching or working in my Jewellery practice making collections for my website, I like to participate in Jewellery exhibition work. These images are from recent exhibits in Armagh and Belfast and the pieces are made from Steel, one of my favourite materials to work with if I am not working in Silver and Gold.
I get inspired by lots of things but mostly from Nature. I use my own back garden as a major source of inspiration for a lot of my work. I tend to collect a lot of plants, dry them out and then study their form and see how their shape changes. I have become a devoted beach comber and have lots of shells, stones and dried out seaweed in my workshop, all of which I find inspiring and great for ideas. Architecture, both rural and urban give me ideas too, especially the quirky details you find on gables and ironwork. I really enjoy making Jewellery so I like to produce small limited collections rather than repeat multiples.
